Place Masséna, Nice, France

Dating from the mid-19th Century, Place Masséna is a spacious and scenic focal point for the city of Nice. Mostly pedestrianised, its checker-board paving is sliced in two by the ultra-modern tram system.  


Despite the garish pink architecture, the Place Masséna is a mecca for tourists

There is plenty of room for pavement cafes and grand ornamental lampposts

The square is home to seven figures perched on seven pillars - an installation by Catalan artist Jaume Plensa, which represents the seven continents
